When I checked into my hotel, I was informed that Pfefferschiff had called the hotel and left a message that they were canceling my reservation since they had booked a large party and no longer had room.

While I might understand their business necessity in doing so, they made no effort to contact me directly. They did have my email address since we had corresponded several times by email.

I would have appreciated an explanation and apology from them but I guess they couldn't be bothered. They did have the gall to later send me an email requesting that I purchase their cookbook which they had recently published.

You were clearly treated very badly here and I can find no excuse for such behaviour. Thank you for sharing this with us and we'll be aware of that for future postings.

In expectation to be allowed to welcome you We went to Pfefferschiff for lunch. The food was modern, interesting combinations and beautifully presented, with seasonal choices.

Excellent service and a good choice of Austrian wines completed this superb experience. The restaurant has a nice countryside setting only 10 min from central Salzburg.

To me, this is the best restaurant in Salzburg. Good quality ingredients, treated well, respecting the austrian traditional gastronomy and always looking for an uplifted touch of innovation.

All very well balanced! As well, the location and the personal is very welcoming and makes it Wine pairing is worthy and the cheese trolley is very complete!
